Leadership: Learning Agility

Agile leadership is something we keep on hearing about and unanimously agree that agility is one of the key success factor. However we often see learning and even educating themselves takes a back seat most of the time. Learning is a There are 2 level of learning one is situational learning and other is academic learning. Both are having their own set of virtues and neither can be ignored. Or we can say formal and informal learning

Often we get too busy in our routines that we tend to forget and upgrade our skills in a formal environment. we tend to seek excuses from various organizational trainings even from seminars/lectures and trade shows barring networking opportunities.  The fundamental outlook in such seminars or trade shows is business rather than learning which is not bad but detrimental to personal and professional growth in a shuttle way. We need to remember whatever we learnt in life has got us where we are, new learning and experiences are going to take us to next big leap.

Being stagnant water is not great way to be, running waters reaches to new places and therefore one should remember to invest in themselves. That’s the biggest investment one can do and we often don’t realize that our parents have spent 22-23 years of their lives to get us educated and pave the window for our growth. This can not stop if we need to grow further. The world is ever so changing and newer technologies to newer avenues are opening up. Refreshing what we learned will never go out of fashion in light of new and changed environment.

Even bigger learning are those which one come across every day in our day today business but these are available to only those who are open, agile, can embrace and imbibe the quick understandings of what the life poses as challenges upon us. Agility here is meant to be quick to understand the true teachings behind a situation and being open enough to realize the shortcomings. One can’t learn from a situation, unless one is ready to look beyond the apparent and agile enough to make up the speed as situations warrants since it won’t be there for long and the next big thing shall occupy the top of mental awareness.

Such learning from our everyday living and working are generally very precious as it’s experiential in nature. Such experiential learning often keep themselves relevant  for a very long period. Thus keeping an open eye towards them is the mark of a successful leader. Athletic agility and speed has to be maintained by the leadership to track the ever changing facets of modern business environment.
